Dr Timothy Peacock is a Lecturer in History and War Studies, and Director/founder of the Games and Gaming Lab (UofGGamesLab) at the University of Glasgow. His cross-disciplinary research in History is underpinned by interlocking interests in areas including Nuclear, Spaceflight/Space Security (such as Earth Environmental impacts of Space Junk), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Wargaming, Gaming and uses of history in games, and Politics. These are areas in which he has been approached to provide expert external consultancy, including designing and leading Serious Games/Exercises. He has led projects ranging from the creation of research-informed tabletop crisis games with policymakers, including on such environmental challenges as flooding, to developing educational video games with external organisations, including creating Robert Burns' farm in Minecraft and St Giles' Cathedral as a historical video game. He has spoken on BBC TV & Radio on Subjects from reasons why humans want to travel into space to exploring history through video gaming. His publications range from articles on the cinematic legacies of nuclear testing and meme-based warfare to a monograph on The British Tradition of Minority Government. He has incubated and supported Research and Knowledge Exchange projects with colleagues in Subjects ranging from Astrophysics to Veterinary Medicine, and led collaborations with organisations from the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority and the Scottish Games Network to gamified performances with Theatre Companies.
