I am a Professor at the University of Glasgow working on forecasting and analytics, particularly those which empower decision-makers with uncertainty information allowing them to make better decisions and control risk. I'm interested in the production, end-use and evaluation of probabilistic forecasts, and often work at the intersection of statistics, engineering, and meteorology.

Over the past 10 years I have developed novel methodologies for forecasting wind and solar power, energy prices and demand (and occasionally other things too), and associated decision-making problems including energy trading, power system operation and asset management. As well as improving forecast quality, I'm interested in the effective communication of complex forecast information, which is crucial to support decision-makers, especially as our energy systems become ever more complex and weather-dependent. Several electricity generators and network operators currently use forecasts and decision-support tools I helped develop. - https://www.gla.ac.uk/schools/mathematicsstatistics/staff/jethrobrowell/
